Addie was born on September 24, 1925 to the late King and Cynthia Ann Jones, Sr. in Blackville, South Carolina. She was educated in the Barnwell County School System. Born and raised in South Carolina, at an early age Addie accepted Christ at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and began to develop a personal relationship with God. In 1955 she was baptized as a Seventh Day Adventist and continued to grow and develop in her faith. Addie was a faithful and true believer in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She walked by faith and not by sight. As a disciple of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Addie was a testimony of one who spoke boldly and shared her love for the Lord with others. She was a shining example of one of God's children who let her light shine in this world for others to see. Addie was an advocate for the Lord, and was one of the founding members of Lighthouse Mission which is now Lighthouse Seventh Day Adventist Church located in Denmark, South Carolina. She wore many hats in the Church: Head Deaconess, Assistant Treasurer, Sabbath School Teacher, Sabbath School Superintendent, Children Stories Ministries, Usher and Senior Citizens Leader. Addie was also a lover of people but most of all she possessed a love of children. She opened her home to others and became a personal babysitter for many. She also enjoyed working in her garden and tending the flowers in her yard. In 1941 Addie married the late Julius Collins, Sr. and to this union seven children were born. She later married the late Willie Baxter, Jr. on September 24, 1968. Three children preceded her in death: Julius Collins, Jr., John Baxter, and Irene Hubbard. Survivors left to cherish her precious memories are: two daughters: Annie McNeil (William) of Olean, New York, and Eartha Collins of Brooklyn, New York; five sons: Harold Collins of Lakewood, California, Jesse Collins of Yonkers, New York, Phillip Collins (Annie) of Jacksonville, Florida, Harry Baxter (Daisy), and Willie L. Baxter (Rose Ann), of Blackville, South Carolina. Also left to cherish her precious memories are: 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Margaret Baxter of Blackville, South Carolina, one sister-in-law, Wessie Jones of New York, New York,; godchildren: Shirley Elmore of Blackville, South Carolina, and Janet & Mark Wade of Wilmington, North Carolina; her loving caretaker grandchildren: Reginald Hubbard and Teresia Hughes; her nephew who was her prayer partner, Harold Sanders of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Thursday from 1:00 pm- 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
