Funeral services for the late Adelle Alice Walker will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Cordova, South Carolina at 12:00 noon. Ms. Walker will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Interment services will immediately follow at Belleville Memorial Gardens located in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Viewing for the public will be held on Friday between the hours of 12:00 noon- 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will be available to greet friends between the hours of 6:00- 8:00. "A life well spent, glorifies God. Author Unknown Mother Adelle Alice Walker was a phenomenal woman. A woman who embodied the true spirit of love, compassion and kindness. Mother Adelle Walker was a humble servant, who spent her life lifting up the name of Jesus, in praise, song and hymns. "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord."- Eph. 5:19. Foundation Mother Adelle Walker, was born on October 18, 1924 in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late Deacon Bennie Walker, Sr. and Elizabeth Williams Walker. She was the eighth of thirteen siblings, and was raised knowing God and the love of her Family. She sacrificed her education at a very early age to go to work to help support her family. Young Adelle worked as a nurse's aid at Orangeburg Regional Hospital for two years in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She later relocated to New York in 1945. "The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust ." Ruth 2:12 Ministry In 1967 God led her to the New Canaan Baptist Church. Although the church was in transition with the illness of Pastor C.E Lewis and the eminent installment of Reverend A.L Cunningham as pastor, Mother Adelle Walker and family remained faithful and kept their membership at the New Canaan Baptist Church. She loved worshipping and working in the kingdom. She was an active member of The South Carolina Ministry, The Mass Choir, The Senior Choir, The Willing Worker's Club, The Friendship Club, The Noon Day Prayer Band and The Mother's Board. "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints.." Hebrews 6:10 Resting in the Lord Mother Adelle Walker leaves to cherish her memory, One brother, Bennie Walker Jr. of Orangeburg, SC, four daughters, Deloris Lewis, of Atlanta, GA. Shirley Monroe, of Orangeburg, SC. Priscilla Walker, and Yvette Walker, of Brooklyn, NY, twelve grandchildren; Gina, Anthony, Eric, Makeba, Sherri, Ishmael, Crystal, Nicole, Shawn, James, Ashley and Nyesha, twenty-five great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, numerous other relatives, church family, neighbors and friends will share her memories.
