Funeral services for Mrs. Alberta Williams-Green will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Blackville, South Carolina. Viewing for the public will be held on the day of the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at the church. Mrs. Green's homegoing services will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. Interment services will follow immediately at Blackville Cemetery, Blackville, South Carolina. Alberta Williams-Green was a committed Christian who lived her life according to God's word. Born in Blackville, SC on July 16, 1910 to Ross and MaryAnn Williams (Nee Halman), Alberta was the third of eleven children. She was reared in a home with Godly parents who took her to church and Sunday school each week; and who taught her the importance of building strong faith. Alberta accepted the Lord as her personal savior at the age of 12. She attended Macedonia High School and graduated from Emerson Religious High School. Alberta also completed a special non-denominational bible course in Dalton, Georgia. During this time she met a handsome young man named Isaac Ezekiel Green. Isaac was smitten by the petite young lady and they eventually got married on March 15, 1930. To this union, one son Elbert, was born. Isaac, Alberta and Elbert all attended Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church where Isaac became a deacon and Alberta, the youngest Deaconess at that time. In 1937 Alberta and her family moved to Palm Beach, FL and joined New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church. Years later; in 1950 the family moved to Chicago, IL. It is here that she joined Herman Baptist Church. At Herman, she served in several capacities including the church choir, Sunday school teacher and Missions Ministry. Alberta continued to serve Herman Baptist Church, until her passing. Alberta left this world on July 8, 2012. Her siblings Mary William (Reed), Malcolm Williams, Fletcher Williams, Ollie Carrell, Gene Williams, Ross Williams Jr., Edna Williams, Marion Williams and Marion Mines preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her grandchildren, Roslyn Yvonne Greene and Renez Green. In addition to her son, Elbert, Alberta also leaves behind her sister, Wessie Williams (Jones); a brother, James Williams; a sister-in-law, Edna Green; one grandchild, Princess Greene; two great-grandchildren, Monee Montgomery (Roslyn) and Roslyn Reeves (Princess); one great -great grandchild, Junee Conway; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
