Funeral services for the late Alice Minus will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church, Blackville, SC.  Interment services will follow immediately at Blackville Cemetery.  Viewing for the public will be held on Saturday, February 25th from 4:00-8:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church.

Life Reflections

Alice Ford Minus was born on November 4, 1922 in South Carolina to the late Arie Ford and Cleve Duncan.

She was educated at the Macedonia School in Barnwell County, South Carolina. At an early age, she joined and attended the Mt. Zion Baptist Church until moving to New York. Upon her return to South Carolina many years later, she reunited with Mt. Zion Baptist Church and became a member of the Senior Choir and the Missionary Society where she served until her health declined. She also frequently attended Macedonia Baptist Church. With Mt. Zion holding services early, she often attended both there and Macedonia on Sunday.

Alice enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to gospel music and attending church services and functions. She was a member of the former Please Club where she happily served her community in whatever capacity she was needed. She loved being with family and friends and was affectionately called 'Ma Alice.'

Alice was employed by Blackville Manufacturing until her retirement. Feeling the need to keep active after her retirement, she went on to be employed by Blackville-Hilda High School as a custodian.

She was married to the late Alonzo Minus. Also preceding her in death are her daughter, Diane Johnson; her siblings, Zeppo, William, Isadore, James, Edna, Leola and Retha Bell; grandson, Tony Ford and two great grandsons, Mickey Hardwick, Jr. and Bernard Fambro. On Tuesday, February 21, 2017 she was reunited with her loved ones.

Alice leaves to cherish her memory – one daughter, Lucille Faust of Daytona FL; one son, Tony Ford of Greenville, SC; one granddaughter, whom she raised as her own, Andrea (Craig) Sapp; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends, including her caregiver for the last 3 years, Geneva Rouse.
