Mr. Andrew Whetstone, born May 31, 1937 to the late Willie Berkley Whetstone and Annie Carmichael Whetstone, was the ninth of thirteen children born to this union, in the Jamison Community of Orangeburg County, South Carolina. He was reared in the Jamison Community. Andrew joined Mount Zion United Methodist Church (presently North Orangeburg United Methodist Church) at an early age and was a life-long, faithful member until his death. He loved the Lor, his family, his church and his community. Andrew was a brave and caring man who participated in and was member of several community service organizations as well church organizations. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Andrew was educated and attended Zion School (Jamison Community, Orangeburg County, SC) and completed his high school education at Wilkinson High School, Orangeburg, South Carolina. He served briefly in the United States Military. Andrew Worked for Utica Tool Company, Congaree Steel, Gressette Pest Control and owned a Landscaping Yard Service Business. He retired from years of working as Radio announcer at WQKI.

Andrew is preceded in death by sisters, Lucille Henderson, Willie Mae Holman, Janet Oliver, Willie Lee Johnson, Amelia W. Gibson and Thelma W. Glover and brothers, George Whetstone Sr., Jasper Whetstone Sr. and Matthew Carmichael.

In his youth, Andrew married the late Minnie Lee Cokley Whetstone. Four children were born to this union. Andrea M. (Robert) Riley, Willie B. (Karen) Whetstone, Stephone (Lisa) Dakota Whetstone and Gretta B. R. Whetstone.

He later married, Dora Lewis Benjamin Whetstone and with this union two children were added, Anna B. Benjamin and John Henry Benjamin, who preceded him in death.  Born to this union was Paulette Whetstone Williams and Paul Lewis (Clarissa) Whetstone.

Andrew is also survived by his siblings, Booker (Loretta) Whetstone, Orangeburg, SC, Jane (Benjamin) Jenkins and Leroy (Ethel) Whetstone both of Trenton, NJ.

Andrew enjoyed the blessings of his loving and devoted grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He loved people, music and sports. We will love him always and know that he will always love us more.
