Ms. Anna Mae Moody peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at NYU Langone Brooklyn Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

Anna was born in Bamberg County, South Carolina, on November 20, 1943, the daughter of the late Charlie Moody, Jr. and Eartha Mae Rivers-Moody.

She attended the public schools in Bamberg County and graduated from Richard Carroll High School, class of 1964. She also attended beauty school in Brooklyn, New York.

At an early age, she joined and was baptized at Thankful Baptist Church in Bamberg, South Carolina, where she served faithfully on the choir, the Missionary Society, the usher board, and the Sunday School department. She later moved to Brooklyn, New York, and united with the Bethany Baptist Church, where she served as a dedicated member of the South Carolina Club, adult choir, and scholarship committee until her health declined.

Anna was a very creative, resourceful, excellent, and efficient homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and won top prize for one of her culinary delights at a contest in New York. She also loved to sew and do hair. She was very active in community affairs and was a member of McDonough Street's Block Watchers Association. An association formed to prevent and curb crime in her neighborhood.

Anna was employed at Lerner Shops in Brooklyn, New York as a retail clerk and was later promoted to manager for over 20 years. She also worked in various other capacities over the years before retiring from the workforce.

Anna was preceded in death by four sisters: Willa Mae Moody-Johnson, Rosa Nell Moody, Ruth Allen Moody-Morant, and Joyce Lee Moody, and three brothers, Charles Moody, Larry Moody, and Elza Alphonso Moody.

She leaves to cherish fond memories a son, Clarence Rydell Foster, Brooklyn, NY; four sisters: Geraldine Dowling, Brooklyn, NY, Annette (Jerome) Rickenbacker, Columbia, SC, Jacqueline (Willie James) Smalls and Lorraine M. Johnson, Bamberg, SC; one special niece, Angela Williams, Orangeburg, SC; one special nephew, Rafon Moody, Columbia, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
