The sun rose brightly on May 8, 1937 when Annie L. Scott Forbes was born to the late Clarence Scott and Coretta Patterson in Allendale, South Carolina.  She was raised in Jennings, South Carolina by her loving grandmother, the late Mary Patterson.  At an early age, she was baptized Three Mile Creek Christian Church but later joined Bethlehem Baptist Church when she moved to Brooklyn, New York.

Annie was married to the late George H. Forbes and this union was blessed with five children, Sharone E. Jones (deceased), Diane Langdon-White (Horace), Benjamin E. Forbes Sr., Sidney U. Forbes (deceased), and Beatrice Forbes-Blissett (Michael).
