Mr. Anthony Bernard Capers, age 55 of Aiken, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on
Sunday, May 4, 2025.
Anthony was born on Sunday, November 16, 1969 at Orangeburg Regional Hospital to
McKinley Capers and Dorothy Jamison Capers.
Anthony attended school in Denmark, SC, graduating from Denmark-Olar High in 1988.
Anthony began his military career in the Army National Guard at Fort Leonard Wood,
MO. He would later join the Navy, stationed at Charleston Naval Base, Charleston, SC.
He was a submariner on the USS Simon Bolivar. Anthony would later work for Bridgestone
Firestone, CSX, and Kinder Morgan. Anthony graduated with honors from both the Freight
Conductor and Locomotive Engineer Programs. He graduated with honors from the IHI
BOP & TUG Training as well. He was an excellent locomotive engineer for CSX and a
Controller for Kinder Morgan.
In 1990 he met the love of his life, Delecia Givens. They married on October 7, 1995, and
had two children, Anthony B. Capers II (Jay) and McKenna Janae Capers. Anthony and
Delecia would enjoy 29 years of love, laughter, and adventure. Anthony loved God and
family. He enjoyed fishing, researching information about cars and spending time with
family. He was great at Scrabble. He loved bragging to his wife & sister-in-law (the college
grads) when he won.
Anthony read the Bible often, he enjoyed sharing the word with family and friends. It
provided peace, hope, and joy for him. He attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church as a boy.
He would later join Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Anthony was passionate about cars. He would read and research information for hours in
his garage. He was fascinated by them. He read manuals to understand the mechanics. Over
the years he built engine and transmissions in his garage. He loved when friends would call
to ask him questions about a car. He was happy talking to anyone about cars. Anthony was a
member of Prince Hall Consistory Number 282.
He was preceded in death by his father, McKinley Capers Sr; siblings, Eugene Capers,
Cheyenne Capers, Betty Bishop, Nora Brown and McKinley Capers Jr.

He leaves to cherish
his memory, his wife, Delecia Givens-Capers, son, Anthony Capers II (Jay); daughter,
McKenna Janae Capers all of the home; mother, Reverand Dorothy Capers (Denmark);
brothers, Bobby Capers (New Jersey), James (Valerie) Capers (California), Danny (Barbara)
Davis, Ronald (Carlett) Capers both of Denmark; sisters, Thelma (James) Nichols (North
Carolina), Lila Morrison (California), Vinece (Jerry) DiNardo (New York), Sara Ann (Hullie)
Thompson (Fairfax), Johnella Gaines (Barnwell), Teresa (William) Smiley (Edisto Island),
Dorothy Kennedy, Rita Jones and Ocquanetta (Phillip) Counts of Denmark; mother in
law, Vernecia Givens (Ehrhardt); sister-in-law, Tanisha E. Givens (Virginia); brother-inlaw,
Joseph Corbitt (Aiken) along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins
and friends.
