Funeral services for the late Mr. Arthur Tyler, Jr. will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Macedonia Baptist Church, Blackville, SC.  Viewing for the public will be held on Thursday 2:00 - 7:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church, on Thursday, June 22, 2017.


Mr. Arthur Tyler, Jr. was born on May 12, 1956 in Williamsburg, Virginia to the late Arthur Tyler, Sr. and Bertha J. Tyler. He was the younger of two children.

Arthur (aka: Junior, Bug, June Bug, Rover, Bug Tussle) as he was affectionately called by family and friends, graduated from Blackville-Hilda High School in 1974. After graduating, Junior attended Benedict College, majoring in Math.

Upon completion of his studies at Benedict, Junior joined the Army National Guard for four years.

After his tour at the Guard, Junior gained employment at the Barnwell Detention Center for two years. Junior also worked at Graniteville Manufacturing, and Dayco, both, as a fork lift operator for several years.

In 1988, Junior migrated to Bartow, Florida, where he taught math at Bartow Elementary for a period of two semesters.

Junior decided he wanted to prepare taxes, so he gained employment with H&R Block, until his sight no longer allowed him to do what he enjoyed doing.

Junior leaves to mourn his death—his mother, Bertha Tyler; two sons: Staff Sergeant Remond (Tisa) Joyner-Tyler of El Paso, Texas and Malika Tyler of Bartow, Florida; one sister, Dorothy Tyler of Blackville, South Carolina; one nephew, Jahmell Riley of Columbia, South Carolina; one niece, Tara Riley of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren: Kahadiyus, Shmiyah and Zakhia all of El Paso, Texas; five aunts: Helen Ray (Walter) of Lewisville, North Carolina, Betty Matthews of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Elizabeth Johnson of Blackville, South Carolina, Belluah Tyler of Norway, South Carolina and Elizabeth Wilson of Brooklyn, New York; three uncles: McKinley Johnson of Delray Beach, Florida, Quinn Tyler of Norway, South Carolina and Eddie Tyler of Orangeburg, South Carolina; a very special and devoted friend, Willie Donald and two very devoted friends: Billy Williams and Nate Donald all of Bartow, Florida, and a host of cousins and friends.
