Mr. Benjamin Rhodes brought light into this world in a way that only he could. His laughter, wisdom, and quiet courage enriched the lives of everyone.

Benjamin was the widower of Georgianna Jones Rhodes who preceded him in death December 23, 2022 after sixty years of marriage.

Benjamin was born June 8, 1940, to the late Isaac and Lula B. Rhodes and the second of five children. He passed peacefully Sunday, May 3, 2026 at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Benjamin was reared in a Christian Home and was a member of Central United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and sexton for the church grounds. He later joined Prospect United Methodist Church.

Benjamin was a hardworking man with great work ethics. He was a former supervisor for Greenwood Mills, warehouse associate at the Food Lion Warehouse and harvesting & spray technician at Super-Sod Farms. When not working, he enjoyed hunting, farming, fishing, landscaping, painting and watching his favorite television shows.

Today, we celebrate not just the life Benjamin lived, but the legacy he leaves behind. He will be remembered by his loving and devoted children, Benjamin Rodney (Althea) Rhodes, Teresa Ann (Carl) Rhodes-Smith, and Angela Yvette (Ervin III) Nelson; grandchildren, Benjamin A. Rhodes, Brianna Smith, Alyssa Rhodes, Ervin Nelson IV, and Trevon Nelson; great-grandchildren, Piper Rhodes, Kennedy Nelson, Madison Nelson, and Kamryn Nelson; siblings, Bernice Dessaure, Delores Green, and Nathaniel Rhodes; brother-in-law, Edward (Emma) Jones; sisters-in-law, Eartha Hubbard, Annie Ruth Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
