Funeral Information: Time: 1:00 pm Place: Central Baptist Church, Denmark, SC Date: Monday, January 26, 2015 Burial Location: Bamberg Memory Gardens, Bamberg, SC **Mrs. Kemp will be placed in the sanctuary of the church one hour before the service. Mrs. Bertha Nathaniel-Kemp passed away on January 20, 2015 at Georgia Regents University in Augusta, Georgia. She was born on December 6, 1945 in Denmark, South Carolina to the late Mary LeClay Johnson -Adams and the late Bubba Cann. She was raised in Bamberg by her adopted mother, Ida Mae James most of her life until she moved to Brooklyn New York where she lived until 1997 before moving back to Bamberg, South Carolina. Bertha worked as a CNA for All Metro Aid until she moved to South Carolina. She was a member of Hutto Chapel and Central Baptist Church until her passing. She was untied in holy matrimony to Mr. Earnest Kemp and this union was blessed with nine children. Preceding her in death are one son, Lawrence (Dakim) Lee Singleton; two sisters, Ollie Mae Bamberg and Carolyn McLauren; two brothers, Johnnie James and Baby Charles Johnson and two other unknown siblings. She leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, James Singleton of Brooklyn ,NY, Brian Samuel of Florida and Edward Lee Singleton of Charleston, SC; five daughters, Sallie Ann Singleton of Brooklyn, NY, Alberta Singleton of Brooklyn, NY, Tasha Singleton-Haywood of Brooklyn, NY, Charisma M (Wanda) Singleton of Orangeburg, SC and Yolanda (Anthony) Singleton-Robinson of Columbia, SC; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; five sisters, Cassie Williams of West Palm Beach, FL, Gloria Williams of Washington, DC, Harriet Williams of Denmark, SC, Azalea Adams-Maddox of Brooklyn, NY and Cheryl Adams of Suffix County, NY; three brothers, Reggie Adams of Brooklyn, NY, Ollie Ingram of Nassau County, NY and Arthur Adams of Brooklyn, NY and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Sunday from 10:00 am- 8:00 pm with the family receiving friends from 6:00 -7:00 pm at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence and/ or at 17 Robin Street, Bamberg, SC and at the funeral home.
