On Saturday, January 25, 2025, our Lord and Savior called Carolyn Dowling to her eternal home. She was the daughter of the late Elder Oscar and Essie Mae Dowling and was born on February 24, 1954, in Bamberg, South Carolina.

Carolyn attended the public schools in Denmark, South Carolina and graduated in 1972. She furthered her education at the University of South Carolina in Columbia earning her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in 1976. After graduating, she became a dedicated employee where she held many management positions in Columbia, Raleigh-Durham-Greensboro area. She later relocated to Houston, Texas where she served 10 years as the General Manager for Weeiners. Filling fulfilled, she embarked on a new journey in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she served as a Manager for Burlington Coat Factory. While living in Louisiana, she attended Greater St. Stephens Full Gospel Baptist Church. After Hurricane Katrina, Carolyn transferred to Burlington Coat Factory in Atlanta, Georgia. She became known professionally for training and developing young talent to excel within the company's rank which afforded her the opportunity to transfer to Ross until her retirement in March of 2020. Also, while living in Georgia, she would fellowship with Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church and St. James UMC of Alpharetta Georgia.

Although Carolyn was very career focus and enjoyed work, she was a serious sports fan. She loved basketball, football, and tennis.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Dowling, Sr. and Wade Dowling, Sr; two sisters, Elizabeth Daniels and Mildred Johnson and one brother-in-law, Harris Holmes.

Left to cherish her loving memories are one brother, Oscar (Alice) Dowling, Jr. of Alpharetta, Georgia and two sisters, Eartha Holmes, of Bronx, New York and Janice Ray (Freddie James Jr.), of Denmark, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Betty Dowling, of Denmark, South Carolina and Roberta Dowling of Lancaster, South Carolina; one God-daughter, Carol S. Dowling and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
