Carrie Lee Woods was the daughter of Sammie Woods, Sr. and Ruth Lee Green Woods.  She was born January 2, 1953, and received her wings October 25, 2021, at her home in Blackville, SC.

Carrie joined the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church at an early age.  She attended regularly.  Ever the faithful member, she served as a member of the Beautification Committee, Vice- President of the Missionary Committee, and Chairwoman of the Hospitality Committee. The latter was most near and dear to her heart.  This committee made sure that everyone had a treat after services.  This was an activity she proudly watched her grandmother do; passing sweets out to her grandchildren every Sunday.

Carrie attended Macedonia Elementary School, and later graduated from Blackville-Hilda High School in 1971.  She continued her education by taking a nursing course.  Meanwhile, she never gave up on her passion - treats for all.  Enrolling in a cake baking and decorating class, and armed with a simple pound cake recipe from her sister-in-law, led to something she never expected – a satisfying side hustle that spread over Barnwell, Bamberg and Aiken counties.  For many years she was well known for her homemade cakes and small catering service.

Carrie was employed with ASTI/ Savannah River Site in until her unexpected passing.

Carrie leaves behind to cherish her memory, five sisters, Catherine Woods McCreary, of Blackville, SC;   Dora Woods Ashley, of Aiken, SC;  Shirley Woods (Robert) Johnson of Blackville, SC;  Mary Woods Felder and Darlene Woods of Blackville, SC;  four brothers, Sammie (Eartha) Woods, Jr. of Denmark, SC;   Arthur Woods, of Atlanta, GA; James Woods of Blackville, SC; and Ronnie Woods, of Barnwell, SC; three Godchildren, Keisha Baxter, Sheena Gibson, and Raven Woods; twenty-five nieces and nephews, thirty eight great nieces and nephews, twenty great-great nieces and nephews; a special great niece, Ebony Armstrong, and a very special great-great niece, Logan Hay as well as a host of sorrowful cousins, friends, church members, and coworkers.
