Born on June 17, 1958 to the late Ida Brabham-Grant and Hammie Grant in Ehrhardt, SC. Raised in a Christian household where God was first, Charles dedicated his life to God at an early age at Three Miles Creek Christian Church located in Ehrhardt, SC.
Charles was the youngest of eleven children. His family migrated to Far Rockaway, New York where he graduated from Far Rockaway High School, Rockaway Beach, NY in 1976. To further his education, he attended Binghamton University, Binghamton, NY graduating in 1980. After graduating he was employed by Amboy Transit.
Later in life he relocated to Atlanta, GA where he was employed by Marta Transit for 24 years, retiring in 2015. Knowing that he still needed the Lord on his side under the leadership of Pastor Jerry B. Black he joined Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur, GA where he served faithfully until his health failed.

By Charles' side during his illness was his wife Sylvia giving unconditional love.

He enjoyed working, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a member of Truth and Union Mason Lodge 599.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Nethaniel, Paul, Gonzalee and Hammie, Jr.; and his sisters, Thelma and Lizzie Mae.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Sylvia Grant of the home; four children, Jason, Leanir, David ("DJ), and Kiwanna ("Kiki") of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Kathlyn, Jason and Kevon; two sisters, Odessa (Walter) Oakman in Queens, NY and Ida Grant; two brothers, Eugene Grant of Jacksonville, FL and Nathaniel Grant of Ehrhardt, SC; two adopted brothers, Joel ("Bubba") of Moncks Corner, SC and Terro of Buffalo, NY, four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; two special friends, Rory and Cleveland both of Atlanta, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family extends a special thank you to Charles' nephew, Ron, sister-in-law Cecelia and his nurses, Shannon, Alfee and Diane.

Viewing for the public will be held on Friday between the hours of 1:00- 8:00 pm at the funeral home. A wake is scheduled from 7:000- 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
