Today some may mourn what they consider a great loss. Instead, we give God thanks, glory
and honor for the great gift He gave us when CHERYL LORRAINE PICKETT HOFLER,
the eldest of three children, was born to Johnny Pickett and Madeline Dash at Fort McKenny,
New Jersey. She was born on February 23, 1953 and departed this life on December 29,
2022.

Cheryl received her early education from the private boarding school, Mather Academy, in
Camden, South Carolina. Upon graduation she went to South Carolina State University where she received
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dramatic Arts. After graduation she moved to Brooklyn, NY along with her
dear friend, Jene Gibson. Cheryl pursued her love of acting for a few years, but after not receiving steady
work, went to work for the city. She worked odd jobs until she found her niche at the Department of Health.
While there, a co-worker, Veronica Hofler, set her up on a blind date in 1986 with Ricardo Hofler, who
turned out to be her husband. They married on September 3, 1988 and lived in Michigan for six years. Cheryl
worked for Family Preservation Services until 1993 when she moved back to New York and returned to her
previous job, but at a different location. Her husband followed her in 1996. Cheryl received her Masters in
Administration in 2002 and told her husband, "We are going to have an adventure."
Cheryl and her husband were residents in Rochdale Village for more than twenty years. Cheryl was also
a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Delta Psi Omega Theatrical Fraternity. She loved that
red and going to parties and meetings. Cheryl had a beautiful, warm smile.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents.

She leaves to not mourn but cherish her memory: her husband of 34 years, Ricardo Hofler; her sister,
Robyn Ford; a brother, Terrance Pickett; niece, Perryn Ryan Ford; nephew, Marshal Catlin Ford and a host
of cousins and dear friends.
