Funeral services for the late Christine Johnson will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Blackville.  Interment services will follow immediately at Hope Memorial Park Cemetery, Barnwell.  Viewing for the public will be held on Thursday from 1:00- 7:00 pm at the Blackville Chapel.

Christine C. Johnson departed from this earthly home and entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 3, 2019.  She was born in Bamberg County, South Carolina on October 26, 1945 to the late Mr. Coy and Ida Mae Copeland.

At an early age, Christine joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Denmark, South Carolina.  After marriage in 1963, she joined her husband in membership at Tabernacle Baptist Church of Blackville, South Carolina.

As a member, Christine served as an usher, a Deaconess, sang with the Tabernacle Gospel Choir, and worked on the kitchen committee for many years.  She was also First Lady at Springtown Baptist Church in Denmark, South Carolina.

Christine was employed at Blackville Manufacturing; Salley Manufacturing; Dixie Narco; Barnwell Manufacturing and Bamberg Manufacturing for years, before becoming a devoted Homemaker in1996.

Two children preceded her in death: a son, Kenneth Johnson and a daughter, Linda Gail Johnson.

Christine leaves to cherish her memories: Her devoted husband of 55 years, Rev. James E. Johnson, Sr. of the home in Blackville, SC; her children: Terry (Lisa) Johnson of Augusta, GA, Lisa (Gerald) Myers of Williamsburg, VA and James (Shannon) Johnson of Barnwell, SC; adopted son, Richard Hicks of Texas; god daughter, Thomasina Bing of Williston, SC; ten grandchildren: Precious Myers, Chris Johnson, Jacoby Myers, Jasmine Johnson, Chartera Johnson, Rachael Myers, Taylor Johnson, Joshua Myers, Valerie Johnson and Caleb Johnson; five great grandchildren: Tatiana Myers, Grace Myers, Chloe and Cynthia Myers and Mariah Myers; one sister, Shirley Kirkland of Blackville, SC; sisters-in-law: Lillian Harrison, Carolyn Johnson (niece), Linda (James) Roberts and Rose (Albert) Raysor; brothers-in-law, J.P. Evans and Billy Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
