Clay Edward Hammonds departed this earthly life on August 23, 2021 at the Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, South Carolina.  He was the son of the late Matthew and Hattie Mae Hammonds and was born on December 10, 1962 in Blackville, South Carolina.

Clay was born and raised in Blackville, South Carolina where he graduated with the class of 1980 from Blackville- Hilda High School.  He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Blackville, South Carolina, as a child and later moved his membership to New Beginnings United Methodist Church in Norway, South Carolina. Clay was employed at Crane/ Dixie Narco for many years.

During Clay's spare time, he enjoyed playing the guitar and dancing with family and friends.  He enjoyed life to the fullest, evidenced by his smile.

Clay was preceded in death by a sister, Eartha Mae Thompson and a son, Ty'Queyveon Badger.

Left to cherish Clay's precious memories are his loving and devoted wife, Rena M. Hammonds of the home; children, Andrae (Jessica) Williams, Ty'Rek Badger and Tyrone Badger ; grandchildren, Melissa, AJ and Landon Williams; sisters, Fannie Mae Smalls, Betty Williams, Betty Singleton and  Jennie Daniels; brothers, James "Bo" Hammonds, Joe Louis (Evangelist Willia Mae) Hammonds and Matthew Hammonds; an aunt, Federina Odom; a mother-in-law, Emma Williams; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Aaron) Dicks and Joyce (Louis) Roundtree; brothers-in-law, Willie Clay (Carolyn) James, William (Gloria) James ,Mack (Sheila) Williams, Arthur (Wanda) Williams, Terry (Charanda) Williams and Tony (Linda) Williams; a very special nephew, Tony Hammonds; good friends, Jamie Simmons and Stephanie Bonds and a host of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
