Funeral services for the late Mr. Curtis H. Lucas will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 10:00 am at Warren Chapel Baptist Church, Orangeburg, SC.  Interment services will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, South Carolina, with full military honors.

Curtis H. Lucas, passed away at home peacefully, Wednesday, May 29, 2019. He left a beautiful imprint of his love on the lives of all who knew him.

Curtis loved people and never met a stranger. His family and friends are a testament of his legacy. He cherished family and friends throughout his life.

Curtis was born to the union of Harry "Meadow" and Margaret Hampton Lucas. He was the eighth child born to this union. Curtis was preceded in death by four brothers; Robert Leighton Lucas, Harry Peter Lucas, Charles " Buck" Lucas and James "Buster" Lucas and one sister, Margie (Abraham) Lucas- Hollaway.

He joined Warren Chapel Baptist Church at an early age. He accepted Christ and was baptistized by Rev. Morris Wright. Curtis loved the Lord. He believed that too many people are playing church and doesn't obey God's word. He called them wolves in sheep clothing. His favorite Pastor was Rev. Willard Sabb.

He helped his baby sister organize The Power of Prayer Outreach Ministry to help people find their way to Christ , especially the homeless.

He was proud of his baby sister who later became his caregiver along with her husband Freddie.

Curtis graduated from Wilkinson High School Class of 1967. While he was in school, he played center on the varsity football team as number 56.

Upon graduation, he received a full scholarship to South Carolina State University based on his artistic talent however, he was drafted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He continued his education at New York Community College.

Curtis came home one summer and fell in love with a young girl from the church.

He went back to New York and later a connection was made. This young girl moved to New York. His sister was surprised when she found out they were married. She was the former Margaret Jamison, who was a choir member from the Warren Chapel Baptist Church youth choir. His sister was the Youth Ministry Director.

From this union, three children were born, one son, Curtis; two daughters, Shalese and Yolanda. They later divorced and he vowed to never marry again. Curtis was best known as "a man that knew how to make a dollar".

He was employed at the US Postal Service in New York and later became an entrepreneur. Curtis relocated to Orangeburg and stayed until his death.

He is survived by one son, Curtis (Simone) Lucas who was the apple of his eye;

two daughters, Shalese (Barbaro) Lucas -Rios and Yolanda (Chakei)Lucas -Wimberly; all from New York; e leven grandchildren: Kala Lucas, Chez Lucas, Joshua Lucas, Joanna Lucas, Bijean Chisholm, Hope Chisholm, Isaac Rios, Isaiah Rios, Ethan Wimberly, Elyn Wimberly and Alias Lucas all of New York, New York; f our sisters, Gearldine (Rev.George) Randolph, Mary( the late Addison Clay) Mincer, Loretta( Henry Clay) Garner, Pastor Linda Keith (Freddie) Stroman and o ne brother, Reverend Ronald Lucas.

He also leaves to mourn dearest friend Frank Jackson, Ernest Stroman and a host of nieces, nephew and cousins.
