Darren Patrick McMillan was born December 10, 1985 in Fairbanks, Alaska to Darell and Lilah McMillan. Darren was educated in the DoD Schools in California, Texas and Japan. He also attended the public schools of South Carolina and North Carolina. Darren graduated from Hoke High School, Raeford, NC in 2005 and later attended Fayetteville Technical Community College, Fayetteville, NC. Darren accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the tender age of 12 and joined Gethsemane Baptist Church in Bamberg, SC where he maintained his membership. Upon final relocation with his parents to Raeford, NC, he joined Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church in 2001. Darren was involved in various music ministries at church to include the Youth Choir, Male Chorus, GK Spirituals and the Inspirational Choir. In addition to his involvement at church, Darren sang with gospel groups throughout the community and various states. These groups included: Curley Morrison & For Reel, now known as Men In Christ, New Dimension, Freedom Ensemble and Resurrection. He enjoyed music and singing. He shared his musical gift with whoever would listen. On Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 2:59 P.M., God in His Infinite wisdom called Darren, affectionately called " Songboi" home to sing with His heavenly choir. Darren leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted parents, Darell and Lilah McMillan of the home; a loving sister, Kelli Peacock, Brooklyn, NY; loving grandparents: Angus and Lois McMillan of Queens, NY and Isadore and Pauline Raysor of Bamberg, SC; one nephew, Jayden Peacock and a niece Morgan Peacock both of Brooklyn, NY; five aunts, three uncles, six adopted aunts, two adopted uncles, 16 great aunts, seven great uncles and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Friday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence of his grandparents, Isadore (Pauline) Raysor, 400 Priester Lane, Bamberg, SC and at the funeral home.
