Funeral services for the late Mr. David "Dave" Mitchell will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 11:00 am at Refuge Temple of Praise, Orangeburg, South Carolina. Elder Renard Green will officiate. Viewing for the public will be held on Thursday from 10:00 am -7:00 pm at the funeral home. Mr. David "Dave" Mitchell, the youngest son of the late Walter Mitchell, Sr. and Clarcy M. Mitchell was born on August 10, 1958 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. He departed this life on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 6:01 pm at the Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, South Carolina, following a brief illness. David was a very slow walker, never in a hurry and a slow talker. David was a roofer, brick layer and worked with cement also. He took pride in what he did. David was affectionately known as "Dave" by his friends. David's presence will greatly be missed but his memories will always linger in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his brother, Leon Mitchell and his sisters, Annie L. Minson and Gladys Naomi Mitchell. Cherishing David's precious memories are: three loving children, Lavonda Thomas, Richard Thomas and David Aarron Haynes; nine grandchildren, Shantrelle Jones, Saveon Jackson, Shatavin Jackson, Shamya Jones, Shanya Jones, Sakiya Waters, Chrishawn Kiett, Tyonn Mahoney and D'onte Gainey; nine sisters, Carolyn M. Seawright, Clarcy M. Brown, Aggie M. Jackson, Patricia A. Jackson, Evangelist Loretta M. Bradley, Deloris M. Davis, Sylvia E. Mitchell, Linda M. (Arthur) Green and Anna L. Parker; one brother, Walter (Joan) Mitchell, Jr.; a brother-in-law, Willie Lee Minson; a very special friend/ companion, Adrienne Foster, her three sons, Mustafa X. Foster, ShaRon L. Foster and Marvin X. Foster and her mother, Mrs. W. Glover; one aunt, Mrs. Annie L. Moorer; his special friends; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
