Funeral services for Deacon Michael Jones will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2011 at St. Phillip C.O.G.I.C. located in Govan, South Carolina. Interment services will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing for the public will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011 at Dash's Funeral Home Chapel in Bamberg, South Carolina between the hours of 12:00 noon-7:00 p.m. Deacon Michael Jones was born in Bamberg, SC, on June 4, 1962 to the late Brooker T. Jones Sr. and Willie Mae Outing. He attended Denmark-Olar High School and Voorhees College in Denmark, SC. He accepted Christ at a early age when he joined St. Phillip C.O.G.I.C. where he actively sang in the choir and drove the church bus. He moved to Raleigh, NC in 1987 and became a member of Ship of Zion AG Ministries where he actively served as a Deacon, taught Sunday school, participated in the Men's Ministry (Men of Zion) and faithfully and consistently distributed food to the community. Michael was a friend to all and he never met a stranger. He was a cheerful person who enjoyed life and made the best of every situation. His personality, charm, and loving ways brought laughter and smiles to everyone he met. He was blessed with a servant's heart and was very dedicated to the service of others. Michael is preceded in death by his father, Mr. Brooker T. Jones Sr.and his brother Anthony Jones. He leaves to mourn His loving wife- Mary N. Jones (Raleigh, NC) Stepdaughter- Christina (Walter) Outlaw, Mother- Willie Mae Gibbs (Ervin), Grandmother- Ruth Jones (Nana) (Denmark, SC) two brothers-Brooker T.(Audrey) Jones Jr., Christopher (Jacqueline) Jones, (Raleigh, NC) two brother-in-laws- Kenneth Ray Nesmith and Frederick Lee Nesmith (Raleigh, NC) one sister in law- Doris Jean (Donnie) Nesmith , two Aunts- Annie Ruth (Wilson) Stewart and Myrdis (Wesley) Johnson, two uncles- Otis James (Phillipine) Outing and William (Sarah) Outing, two grandchildren-Christian and Ethan Outlaw, four nephews, nine nieces, six Grand Aunts and one grand uncle and a host of relatives and friends.
