Dorothy Gordon Coleman affectionally known as "Dot" was born January 30, 1943, in
Brooklyn, New York, to the late Jessie Staley Gordon and Elliott Gordon, Sr.
She was a strong woman whose courage, resilience, and unwavering determination carried her
through every season of life. No matter the challenges she faced, she remained steadfast,
compassionate, and devoted to those she loved. Her strength inspired everyone around her, and
the love for her family was evident in all that she did.

Prior to moving to South Carolina, she was employed with Sears as a Merchandiser Buyer. She
became employed with Ducane Heating Inc. in 1972, as a receptionist and later moved into the
role as Human Resource Manager. She worked for nearly fifty years to include working part time at The Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg, SC. She retired in 2018.
Throughout her life, she touched countless, lives with her kindness, wisdom, and generous spirit.
Whether she was offering words of encouragement, sharing laughter or simply opening her heart
to others, she made everyone feel loved and welcomed. Her legacy of strength, love, and grace
will continue to live on through the generations she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by husband Zellie Coleman, son Alvin Brown Jr., brother Elliott
Gordon; and grandchildren DeAndre Baldwin and Tony Nimmons.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories three daughters, Audrey Brown, Monica (Freddie)
Thomas, and Bernay (Tony) Nimmons, of Denmark, SC, six grandchildren, eleven great-
grandchildren, three stepchildren, Ted (Margie) Bellinger of Williston, SC, Jerry (Dean) Jones of
Jacksonville, FL and Nellie Beard of Barnwell, SC. Two sister-in-laws, Rose Crawford of West
Palm Beach, FL and Mozelle Harley of Aiken, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and
other relatives along with special dear friends, Bessie Elmore, Erica Milhouse and Tara Thomas whose lives
were forever touched by her love and kindness. Special caregivers Jayden Brown (Great
Grandson) and Katina Youmans.

Although our hearts are saddened by her passing, we rejoice in the beautiful life she lived and the
countless memories she gave us. She will forever be remembered as a strong woman, a loving
mother, a devoted grandmother, and the heart of the family. Her strength, wisdom, faith, and
unconditional love will never be forgotten.
