Funeral services for the late Ms. Dorothy J. Smith will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Blackville, South Carolina. Interment services will follow immediately in the church cemetery. Rev. Joseph Jackson will officiate. When our Heavenly Father is on his journey, sometimes he chooses one of his children to walk with him. On Monday, August 27, 2012, he chose Dorothy Jeanny Smith and quietly closed her eyes and whispered, "Peace Be Thine". Dorothy began the start of her legacy on November 2, 1956 to the late Henry and Margaret Smith. She received her education in the Barnwell County Public School System. She retired from Silver Spring Nursing Home in Williston, South Carolina after years of labor. Dorothy was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and worshipped there until her health began to fail. Cherishing her memories are: her daughters, Stella R. Smith and Kay A. Smith both of Williston, SC; two grandsons, Jeremiah Smith and Zayquan Smith; one brother, Larry Smith of Blackville, SC; six sisters, Kayollie Ferguson of Williston, SC, Marcella (Emmanuel) Raysor of Blackville, SC, Henrietta (Leon) Nickens of Blackville, SC, Pearl Dowling of North Augusta, GA, Thelma (Fred) Pryor of Blackville, SC, Eartha (Spencer) Braxton of Blackville, SC; a special friend, Miss Betty M. Tyler; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
