The Heavenly Father came and plucked from his garden another lovely flower, Doshia

English Kemp.

Mrs. Doshia English Kemp, daughter of the late Mr. Henry and Mrs. Maggie Duncan English, was born on April 8, 1932 in Denmark, South Carolina and entered rest on Thursday, February 3, 2022 after a brief illness.

Mrs. Kemp was educated in Denmark Public Schools.  After graduating from high school, she earned an Associate Degree in Tailoring from Denmark Area Trade School, now Denmark Technical College.

Mrs. Kemp was a dedicated member of Honey Ford Missionary Baptist Church where she served as President of the Mt. Calvary Sisters Benevolence Society, a Sunday school teacher, a mass choir member, a former member of the Senior Choir and a member of the Bible School kitchen staff.  She served faithfully until her health failed.

Mrs. Kemp was a very faithful and chartered member of Morning Star Chapter #123 Order of Eastern Star and the Most Ancient Matron of the C.B. Wright Court #415 Heroines of Jericho of Denmark, South Carolina. Affiliation under the Palmetto Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Ancient York Rite Masons, Prince Hall Origin National Compact, USA.

Because of her selfless, humble, kindhearted, loving, and spiritual nature, she became a caregiver for family and others.  Mrs. Kemp was employed for many years at Sunbeam Manufacturing Company in Denmark.

Mrs. Kemp was married to the late Louis Kemp, Jr.  Even though there were no children born to this union, Mrs. Kemp provided love, encouragement, advice, words of wisdom, and financial support to many of her family members.  Mrs. Kemp was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister:   James D. English, Leroy English, John Henry English, Isadore English, Ernest English, Arthur Lee English, Charles E. English, and Nathaniel Parker, and Margaret E. English.

Mrs. Kemp is survived by a special cousin reared in the home as a brother, Cecil W. Johnson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two sisters-in-law:  Gertrude K. Fickling of Denmark, South Carolina and Ruth Kemp of Washington, D.C.; three special nieces who served as her caregivers: Alicia Shuler, Martha (Sanford) Pickens, and Wendy Tyler all of Denmark, South Carolina; a special nephew, Elder Charles (Retha) English of Cope, South Carolina; and a host of other nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends, whom she loved dearly.

The dear face, for the sight of which we hunger, shall look on us again; the voice that has left this world so tuneless shall once more bless our ears; we shall see our loved one again and be with her forevermore!
