Earther (Dan) Jacob Price was born in what was called, "The Bomb Area", which is now the Savannah River Site on March 28th, 1936.  He was born the eldest child of Rev. Aaron Price and Magelene Rhodes Price.

His family later relocated to the Martin, SC community. He joined Ned Branch Baptist Church at an early age after accepting the Lord as his Savior.  He graduated from C.V. Bing High School in Allendale, SC and attended Claflin College (University).

"Dan" as he was affectionately known, met his wife, Rosa Sophie (Washington) Price of Blackville, SC and married her in December of 1962. To this union, two children were born, Donald and Arnold  (No, they are not twins).  They moved to Barnwell, SC where Dan continued to enjoy farming and carpentry.  Dan was not a man of many words but spoke very sternly.

Dan's family continued to grow. Donald married Nancy and they reside in Bamberg, SC.  Arnold joined Juliete Allen and they reside in Barnwell, SC.  These two guys had a total of four children: Yasmine Price of Columbia SC, Meagan (A.J.) McDonald (2nd Lt. of the U.S. Army), of Hawaii, 1st Lt. Donovan Price of Columbia, SC and Darius Price of Aiken, SC.   In addition, there are: an adopted son, Jessie Dorch of Barnwell, SC; adopted grandson, Quincy Kemp of Blackville, SC; a goddaughter, Jamie Odom of Barnwell, SC and one great-granddaughter, Kloe Roney of Columbia, SC.  Dan enjoyed his grands, and showed his affection normally with a tight grip in the top of the head with his boys and razor stubble face rub with the girls.

Dan retired many years ago from what is now Dixie Narco. He became a Deacon and Chairman at the Ned Branch Baptist Church and served faithfully for many years. He also served on various other ministries in the church. Later in life, he moved his membership to Macedonia Baptist Church of Blackville, SC where he continued serving as a Deacon.  He was the oldest Deacon at Macedonia Baptist Church until his passing.

Dan had a fondness for  The Red Oak Community Fire Dept.  where he served as a Lieutenant and Chaplain for many years until his health declined.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He leaves to carry on his legacy:  his two sons, Arnold Price (Julliette Allen) of the home and Donald Price (Nancy) of Bamberg, SC; his grands and great-grandchildren; his sister, Viola, (Ben) Holmes; adopted sons, Dr. Charles Price of Chapel Hill, NC  and Jessie Dorch (Fat Rascal) of Barnwell, SC.  He had a host of nieces and nephews who called him, "Dan The Man".  His boys cannot grow a garden or nail a board, but hopefully he taught someone his love for it.
