Funeral services for the late Mr. Eddie Davis will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 11:00 am at Andrew Chapel Baptist Church, Orangeburg, SC.  Interment services will follow immediately at the church cemetery.  Viewing for the public will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Eddie departed this life on Thursday morning, March 2, 2017, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, South Carolina, following a brief illness. He was born on August 23, 1952 in Orangeburg County, the youngest child of eight siblings to the late Mamie Johnson Davis and Frank Davis Sr.

He received his formal education at Bethune Memorial High School Class of 1971, Bowman, South Carolina.

Eddie cherished the game of baseball (fast-pitch). He started playing during his adolescent years, and developed a desirable love for the sport. In adulthood, he progressed to softball (slow-pitch) a popular recreational sport where he played in an abundance of tournaments with some of his closest friends. He could not stay away from the game of baseball. His unwavering love for the sport propelled him to be become an umpire. He devoted countless hours umpiring baseball and softball in various South Carolina counties.

At an early age, Eddie affiliated himself with Andrew Chapel Baptist of Orangeburg, South Carolina.

He was united in holy matrimony to Catherine Jones Davis on September 3, 1977 and that union was blessed with three loving children.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Learline Davis Albury and his parents.

Those left to cherish his fond and loving memories are a loving wife, Catherine Davis; two sons, Adrian (Tieasha) Davis of Columbia, SC and Justin (Tamika) Davis of Oceanside, CA; one daughter, Kimberly (Jarrell) Mays of Columbia, SC; three brothers, Frank (Sarah) Davis of Codova, SC, Leroy (Blondell) Davis and James (Ruby) Davis both of Orangeburg, SC; three sisters, Elizabeth Evans and Luella Davis both of Queens, NY and Bessie P. Davis of Orangeburg, SC; two brothers-in-law, Edward Jones and Enoch Jones both of Orangeburg, SC;  one sister-in-law, Minnie Jones of Orangeburg, SC; six grandchildren, Chineyere, Jamarria (who named him "G-daddy" as a toddler), Jardan, Jaylen, Jayshawn, and Jaidyn; two special friends, Wilbert Sumpter and George Caldwell and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
