Elizabeth Moody affectionately known as Ring, Ning or Mama Moody was the fifth and youngest child born on September 9, 1940, to Daisy Fickling Moody and Robert Moody, Sr. In Bamberg, South Carolina.

Elizabeth received her primary education in the Bamberg County school system graduating from Richard Carroll in 1958. She received her cosmetology license at Luvenia Cosmetology school in Augusta, Georgia.

At an early age Elizabeth accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour and was baptized at Capernaum Baptist Church in Denmark, South Carolina; this is where she began her spiritual journey. However, she always followed the Word of God until finding her permanent church home under the leadership team of Pastor Antonio Oliver at Warren Chapel Baptist Church. Elizabeth was known for her missionary work, being a Sunday school teacher, choir member and deaconess, just to name a few.  She also proudly served in many organizations.

Her special attribute was her fundraising ability. Elizabeth had a very special skill set for raising money at church, at work and in her community.

In 1973, Elizabeth was employed by the United States Postal Service in New York, New York and remained employed there for 30 years. Her work ethic was impeccable. At an early age working alongside her family as a sharecropper, she learned the importance of hard work.

After retirement, she relocated back to South Carolina which she truly loved and adored. Elizabeth was deeply rooted in her community, frequently attending city council meetings. She was a known advocate for those who could not speak for themselves. Not only was she active in local politics, but she was also instrumental in getting people to exercise their right to vote.

She loved her family. She was passionate about sharing and teaching them about their family history. She took great pride in her family and ensured that her family knew where they came from. She often said "If you don't know where you come from, you don't know where you are going "  which prompted her to become a founding member of the Bamberg African American Genealogy Society (BAAGS).

In her later years, she enjoyed sitting on "the pizer" (her porch), with her porch committee where they were known as the unofficial neighborhood watch.

To know her was to love her. In her last days she remained surrounded by her children, grandchildren (both biological and adopted), God children, nieces, nephews and close life long friends.

She entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the Lexington Medical Center. Elizabeth was a force of life that will forever be missed and cherished by her daughters Sonja Moody-Scott of Brooklyn, New York, and Jada Vanessa Diamond of Columbia, South Carolina; her adopted daughter, Teresa Hannibal of Bamberg, South Carolina; Her Grandchildren, Keishauna Elizabeth Moody (raised in her home) of Columbia, South Carolina, Justin Moody, Keith Scott, Kimberly Scott, and Quran Coleman, all of Brooklyn, New York; her adopted grandson, Christopher Key of Advance, North Carolina; Great-grandchildren, Jayden Porter, Ti'yana Porter, Cameron Brant and all of Columbia, South Carolina and Liandra  Scott, and Jaddi Coleman both of Brooklyn, New York; her great-great-grandson, Amir Edwards; Sister, Martha Mae Rumph (Thomas, Sr.) of Augusta, Georgia; Bonus sisters, Clara Jones and Francina Smith both of Bamberg, South Carolina and Naomi Haye and Mae Rose Brown both of Brooklyn, New York; God Children, Mark Duncan, JoAnn  Summers and Kenneth Stevenson; her lifelong friend, Mildred Wiggins (Mrs. Mil); her neighborhood children, Jimmy and Teresa Davis  and Lynda McCaskell; Special nieces, Joyce Byers, Patricia Moody-Hicks, Debra Elizabeth Moody-Jefferson and Cereas Stevenson; and host of nieces, nephews and friends.
