Funeral services for the late Mr. Elmo Matheney will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, Blackville, South Carolina.
Interment services will be held at Hope Memorial Park Cemetery, Barnwell, South Carolina.  Viewing for the public will be held on Friday, February 5th from 2:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home.



Life Reflections

Mr. Elmo Matheney , affectionately known as "Pete," was born on October 19, 1949 in Stuart, Florida to the late Linnie Matheney, Sr. and Minnie Gloster Matheney-Newton. He departed this life on January 28, 2016 at MUSC in Charleston, South Carolina.

Pete grew up in Blackville, South Carolina and joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church at an early age.

He attended Macedonia School in Blackville and graduated from Blackville-Hilda High School Class of 1971.

He was employed with Ducane Heating and Air of Blackville, South Carolina, where he retired after 36 years of service.

Pete was preceded in death by 1 brother, Johnny L. Gloster, two sisters: Leuvonia Matheney-Donaldson and Helen Hagood all of Blackville, South Carolina.

Pete leaves to cherish his precious memories—a devoted wife, Jessie Mae Matheney of Blackville, SC; a son, Christopher E. Matheney of Blackville, SC; a daughter, Felicia S. Matheney of Blackville, SC; 3 grandchildren: Christopher S. Kearse, Nicholas D. Sanders, Jr. and Terrina D. Arjun all of Blackville, SC; 3 brothers: Linnie Matheney of Riverdale, GA, Larry (Velina) Gloster of Blackville, SC and Arthur (Joyce) Newton of Greer, SC; 3 aunts: Lillie Bell Bradley, Dorothy (Abraham) Heyward both of Blackville, SC and Deloris Ford of Philadelphia, PA; one uncle, Willie (Martha) Gloster of Blackville, SC; 1 sister-in-law, Shirley Taylor of Charleston, SC; three brothers-in-law: Johnny (Ethel) Taylor of Philadelphia, PA, Floyd (Shirley) Taylor and Wallace Taylor both of Blackville, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
