Mr. Ernest Matthew Byrd, III, affectionately known as "Trey" was born on June 27, 1996, in Columbia, South Carolina, to Ernest Byrd, Jr. and Theodora Mack Byrd. He departed this earthly life on October 17, 2023.

At the age of four, Trey presented his love for the game of baseball and began playing at Bluff Road Park and he continued throughout his high school years.

He attended A. C. Flora High School and graduated with his class in 2014. Afterwards, he attended Midlands Technical College Computer Science program and his passion for computer technology pursued him to enter the Skills USA Internetworking competition and placed first place out of 800 students in South Carolina.

He was employed as a cargo transporter in the southeast region while empowered to further his educational goals to obtain his commercial driver's license.

Trey always displayed himself as a kind and generous person. Through his passion of culinary skills, he enjoyed cooking for his family. Fishing was his favorite thing to do on any given day. He would always bring fish home to his mother to clean and cook for a great meal.

Trey had a heart of gold and was known to give you the shirt off his back. Befitting his memory, his ultimate gift of life helped saved the lives of countless recipients on October 19, 2023. As an organ donor, qualified individuals will be provided with a second chance to live.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Theodore "Teddy" Oliver Mack, Maternal Grandmother, Twilda D. Bennett, Paternal Grandmother, Geneva Mae House Byrd, Uncle, Lawrence Larry Byrd and Godmother, Thelma Johnson Henson.

He leaves to cherish his memories; His parents, Ernest and Theodora Byrd of Columbia, SC; Uncle, Morris W. Byrd of Eastover, SC; Great Aunt, Mrs. Velma Mabry House of Dante, VA; Godfather, Donnie Brown, Sr. of Columbia, SC; Uncle, USA Army (Ret) Darwyn (Tonia) Henson, Sr. of West Palm Beach, FL; Uncle, Robert (Shemonia) Lee, Jr. and Aunt, Dr. Charla (Andrew) Simons of Eastover, SC; his cousins, Clay Sandra Bryant Dash of Orangeburg, SC and Charlie Byrd, Jr. of Memphis, TN.

He also leaves to cherish his memories, those relationships that he forever treasured; the love of his life, dearest and most affectionate companion, Zayra "Zay" Mariano; O'Hyge Jacobs, Joseph O'Neil, Darrius Henson, Keshawn Rowe-Everette, Robert Lee, III, Rodrick Lee and A'Lexus Webber; Big sisters Sugi D. Brown, Nicole Brown Smith; Big Brother Duane Sebastian, his beloved pets Benjamin and Cali, and a host of beloved relatives and friends.
