E rvin Ford, Sr., son of the late Mr. McKinley and Evola Ford, was born on June 30, 1940 in Bamberg, South Carolina, and departed this life on Thursday, December 8, 2016.

He attended Bamberg County Public Schools.

At an early age, "Papa" joined Union Baptist Church, where he was baptized. He later joined Mt. Joy Holiness Church with his wife, where he was baptized again.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Diana Washington Ford. To this union, four children were born.

"Papa worked at Roc-Lon Industries for 30 years and retired in 2003. He came out of retirement in 2004, and was employed by Bamberg School District One as a custodian. He retired again in 2012 after 8 years.

"Papa" was known as a quiet man. He would help anyone that was in need of anything. He was a hard worker that provided for his family. "Papa" helped raise many family and family children.

Ervin was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Ford, two daughters, Theresa Ford Hampton and Tonda E. Hart, his sister, Lucille Sampson, two brothers, Frankie Lee Ford and Charles Ford, two granddaughters, Kendall and Kasey Ford, sister-in-law, Florine Washington and a brothers-in-law: Arthur Washington, Lonnie Sapp and Fred Graham.

" Papa" leaves to cherish his memories —(3) daughters: Gracie Ford, Joann (Luther) Richardson of Brooklyn, New York and Jannifer Ford (caregiver) of the home; (4) sons: Ervin (Sandy) Ford of Fayetteville, North Carolina, James (Lisa) Ford of Brooklyn, New York, Ervin (Jennifer) Ford, Jr. of Fairfax, South Carolina and Derrick (Ashley) Ford of Bamberg, South Carolina; adopted daughter, Nakeisha Keith of Florence, South Carolina and Darius Reddish of Bamberg, South Carolina; special goddaughter, Beverly (Alexander) Loadholt of Fairfax, South Carolina; grandchildren: Amber, Derekca, Jamari, Lakendra, Ervin III, Janele, Katrina, Brooke-Lynn, Kelly, Natasha, Luther, Monique, David, Felicity, Anthony, James Jr., Melvin Jr., Jadaka Ross, Dijou Smalls, Daniel Thompson, Micheal Thompson of Fairfax, South Carolina, Takasha Thompson of Allendale, South Carolina and Roshell Loadholt of Beaufort, South Carolina; (4) great grandchildren: Jordin, Khole, Jiyia and Kadaria; (4) sisters: Emma Lee Graham of Brooklyn, New York, Ruby Graham, Rether M. Sapp and Ruby Sherman, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
