Eva Dell Dowling, age 73, was born in Bamberg, SC on May 23, 1953, to the late James and Bernice Meeks, Sr.  On September 9, 2026, she was called home while at Prisma Health Richland in Columbia, SC.

Eva received her education at Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School with the class of 73.  She worked at Bamberg Manufacturing Company for years. She received her Certified Nursing Assistant certification from Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College.  Eva than became employed as an CNA at Jolly Acres in Orangeburg, SC.  Then transitioned to Bamberg Nursing Home until she retired. She joined the St. John Baptist Church in Bamberg, SC at an early age and served on the Usher Board there.

Eva was affectionately known as a kind person who genuinely loved her family and friends.  She also loved surrounding herself around her family and people who she cared about.  She loved playing video games, games on her phone, scrolling Facebook to keep up with all her family and watching cartoons.

Eva was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles Henry Meeks, and Darrell Meeks and 4 sisters, Virgile Smalls, Wanda Nettles, Joann Meeks, and June Meeks.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving daughter Alicia (Andre) Wade Sr. of Lancaster, SC; a loving son Wade Henry (Shontee) Dowling Jr of Kannapolis, NC; two grandsons Jamonte Wadrionn Dowling and Andre Wade Jr.; five granddaughters Amber Wade, Dwana Sharday Dowling, Taylor Wade, Dominique Wade, and Hailey Wade.  She also leaves sacred memories with her four sisters, Vernell Rice of Denmark, SC, Marilyn Haynes and Juanita (Tony) Meeks both of Bamberg, SC and Cynthia (Robert) James of Blackville, SC;  three brothers, James (Lessie) Meeks Jr., Ronald (Jeanette) Meeks and Melvin Meeks all of Bamberg, SC; one brother-in-law, Henry Lee Nettles of Denmark, SC; one sister-in-love, Bernadette Sanders-Meeks of Denmark, SC; special friends, Blanch Johnson Bernard Haynes, Danny Coleman, Shellie Steward and Ruth Kizer; along with a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and friends. Eva's presence will truly be missed by all who loved her.  But her memory will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
