Florence Ramsey was born to the late Hailey Ramsey and Mary Ramsey on July 4, 1945 in Electric Mills, Mississippi and immediately adopted into the home of her loving and devoted parents, Turner and Florence (Florida) Hutchins and raised in Emelle, Alabama.  After fighting and overcoming a number of health issues, Florence departed from her earthly home and entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Prism Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia, South Carolina.

Florence attended the Sumter County Training School, where she graduated in the class of 1964.  Upon graduating, Florence moved to New York for a better life. After moving she married the late Harry Lee Brown who was serving in the United States Army and after being stationed several places across the country and the world, they went on to settle in South Carolina, where she would call home until she claimed her wings. To that union they welcomed three daughters she cherished: Bridget, Sondra and Anita.  Florence was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister.

Throughout her life, Florence held various jobs such as an administrative assistant at Admiral/Rheem Corporation and Certified Nursing Assistant and served many years as a volunteer on the Blackville, emergency medical team until her retirement. Florence also volunteered in a number of civic groups and in her community.

Florence or "Flo "as she was called by many was known for her humble ways, her kind and giving heart and beautiful smile. Flo had a love for fashion, entertaining and was an excellent cook that would welcome all in her home for a hot meal. Not to mention her love for Bingo and card games.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents Turner and Florence Hutchins, her brothers, Earl Bryant, Eugene, Wesley, JC and James Ramsey and sisters, Melinda Townsend, Pearl Ramsey and Bernetta Jones.

Florence leaves to cherish her fond memories:  her daughters, Bridget (LaTravia) Brown of Blackville, SC, Sondra (Phillip) Thomas of Aiken, SC and Anita (Paul) Glenn or Douglasville, GA; a loving and devoted brother who she loved and treated as her own, Frankie Earl Hutchins of Aiken, SC; four adorable grandkids, Maya A. Brown of Atlanta, GA, Trey Thomas of Pembroke, NC, Kamryn Thomas of Aiken, SC and Paul "PJ" Glenn III of Douglasville, GA;  four BONUS daughters reared in the home, Jackie (James) Chambers of Blythewood, SC, Marion Brown of Brooklyn, NY, Brenda Brown, Linda (Derrick) Jones; sisters-in-law, Rutha Watford, Joann (Chris) Islar, Jessie Mae and Shirley Ann Lee of Blackville, SC; a special cousin, Carrie Bell (Elijah) Jones, Scooba, AL; a special friend, Ida Burrell, Smyrna, GA.; extended brothers and sisters in Alabama, Mississippi and St. Louis, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and special caregivers, Mrs. Eartha Eady and Jessie Glover.
