On January 22, 1930, Florrie Bell was born to the late Sim and Charlotte Washington in Bamberg County. She departed this life on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at her home after an extended illness. At an early age, Florrie joined Capernaum Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her health declined. She was a member of the usher board ministry for over 20 years, many of which she served as President of the Auxillary. Florrie operated a home daycare for over 15 years. She was later employed by EL Key Incorporated for 15 years and retired from Skyline after working there for a period of 25 years. Florrie married the late Lucious Hightower and she remained a faithful wife until his death. Later in life, Florrie married the late Harold V. Johnson. Florrie is preceded in death by her sisters, Eartha Mae Carter and Eartha Bell Ray and two brothers, Thomas Washington and John Henry Washington. She leaves to cherish fond memories her daughter, Katherine "Kitty" Hightower of the home; step daughters, Celeste Alexander and Joannie Johnson of Camden, NJ; a niece reared in the home, Sherry Washington -Ryant; three sisters, Mary Williams of Sanford, NC, Pearl Rice and Christa Bell Glover of Denmark, SC; two brothers, Charles Washington and Nehemiah "Dollie" Washington of Denmark, SC; a sister-in-law, Lousie Washington of Denmark, SC and a brother-in-law, Samuel Carter of Denmark, SC; and aunt, Gladys Washington of Denmark; a God daughter, Paulette Plowden; and a host nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Friday from 12:00 noon- 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
