Floyd Faust was born April 2, 1944, to the late Carietha Faust and the late Otis Brown Sr. in Barnwell County, South Carolina. Floyd was called home on August 7, 2025, at the Edisto Post Acute Care in Orangeburg, South Carolina, after extended illness.

Floyd was baptized at Sunshine Baptist Church in Blackville, South Carolina at a early age. He was also a member of Sunshine Mass Choir.
In 1974, Floyd was employed with Ducane Manufactory in Blackville, South Carolina. After leaving Ducane, he became self employed as a mechanic until 2022, after retirement.

August 1, 1979, Floyd recorded his first single "God Got a Key" with five other members in the group Gospel Supremes. Out of the five members the group has one surviving member, Mr. James Kirkland and he was a part of another singing group called the Gospel Tones, and the group has two surviving members, Mr. Carnell Brown Sr. and Mr. Earl Walker. Floyd enjoyed singing, playing the guitar and loved watching the Parade of Quartets.

Floyd was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Thelma C. Faust on November 19, 1991. To this union four children were born.

Floyd is preceded in death by both parents, wife, one daughter and a devoted friend, Larry Hampton.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory to five sons: Otis (Delois) Faust of Atlanta, GA, Lonnie (Sandra) Faust, Columbia, SC, Julian Faust and Christopher Faust of the home and Arthur Mayes of Connecticut; one daughter, Elizabeth Mayes of Williston, SC; four sisters, Ethel Faust of Blackville, SC, Eveline (Clinton) Williams of Charlotte, NC, Otistene Brown of Las Vegas, NV, and Jacqueline B. Huckaby of Michigan; one brother, St. Clair Hutto of Denmark, SC; two aunts, Elizabeth (Gerald) Washington of Gardena CA, and Mary Washington of Columbia, SC; ; one adopted son, Floyd Calhoun of Blackville, SC; (27) grandchildren and (36) great-grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
