Mr. Glenn Matthew Dowling , affectionately known as "Yank", was born in Barnwell County, South Carolina on June 1, 1954 to the late Johnny and Kary Taylor Dowling. He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 in Augusta, Georgia, following a period of declining health.

Reared in a Christian home, he grew in wisdom and in love with God and his fellowman. Giving his heart to God in his early years, he joined the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and remained faithfully throughout his life.

His heritage of friendship and faith, and example in living the Christian life shall continue to live in the memory of those who were privileged to know him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mr. George Dowling.

Survivors include: Seven sisters, Ms. Hattie Fields of Canton, Ohio; Ms. Janie Bryant of Denmark, South Carolina; Ms. Linda Dowling and Ms. Bobby Jean O'Neal of Augusta, Georgia; Ms. Brinda Corley and Ms. Marilyn (Lawrence) Dowling of Columbia, South Carolina; and Mrs. Brenda (JB) Davis of Springfield, South Carolina. Seven brothers, Mr. Johnny (Beverly) Dowling and Mr. Athel (Linda) Dowling of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Mr. James (Viola) Dowling of Columbia, South Carolina; Mr. Charles Dowling of Orangeburg, South Carolina; Mr. Bobby Dowling of Windsor, South Carolina; Mr. James Howard of Springfield, South Carolina; and Mr. Andrew Nickens of Gaston, South Carolina. Two aunts, Ms. Shirley Taylor of Charleston, South Carolina and Ms. Jessie Matheney of Blackville, South Carolina. Three uncles, Mr. Johnny (Ethel) Taylor of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Mr. Floyd Taylor and Mr. Wallace Taylor of Blackville, South Carolina. A host of of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
