Funeral services for the late Gloria Whitmore will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Orangeburg, SC.  Interment services will follow immediately in the church cemetery.  Public viewing will be held on Friday from 12:00 - 8:00 pm, with a memorial service conducted by members of The Order of the Eastern Star at 6:00 pm, at the funeral home.


Gloria Whitmore passed away at home peacefully Friday, November 2, 2018. She left a beautiful imprint of her love on the lives of all who knew her. Gloria loved people and never met a stranger. Her family and friends are a testament of her legacy as a devoted wife, nurturing mother and loving sister with cherished friends throughout her life.

Gloria was born July 13, 1946 to the late Mayfield and Annie Bell Frazier. She graduated from Wilkinson High School and continued her education at Orangeburg Technical College and South Carolina State University. Gloria joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church at an early age where she served as President of the Missionary Auxiliary. Gloria was a retired educator from School District #5. She was also proud to be a Worthy Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star Edisto No. 258 where she once served as District #2 Queen.

Those who knew Gloria best, knew that her truest passion was her family. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Adrienne Frazier and brother, Linell (Bud) Parker.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jimmie Whitmore, Orangeburg, SC; her sons, James ( Josie)  Whitmore and Jonathan (Anita) Whitmore both of Charlotte, NC; her sisters, Carrie Bell Elliott of Stamford, CT,  Lillie M. Jones of Cordova, SC, Deloris Frazier of Orangeburg, SC and Dr. Helen Frazier of Hollywood,  SC; her brother, George( Vickey) Frazier of Columbia, SC; her aunt, Vera S. Tate of Willow Grove, PA; her uncle, George Sharperson of St. Matthews, SC; grandchildren, Adrienne, Kira, Kayla, Imani, Christina, James, Jonathan (JT), Jhavan, Austin and Ava all of Charlotte, NC; sisters in- law, Vernell Bolin of North, SC and Dora Mae Phillips of Orangeburg, SC.

She also leaves to mourn dearest friends Virginia Hampton, Juanita Richardson, Betty Rush, Irene Marshall and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
