Funeral services for the late Mr. Harold Edward "Gap" Gadsden will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church, Blackville, SC. Interment services will follow immediately at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Lees, South Carolina. Rev. Dr. Sam Davis will officiate. As God perambulated through His beautiful garden of flowers on February 13, 2014, He visited Mr. Harold Edward Gadsden, and gently closed his eyes and whispered, "Peace Be Thine". Harold affectionately known as "Gap", was born on January 14, 1955 in Blackville, South Carolina to the late Harold Gadsden and Margaret Mae Donaldson Gadsden. At an early age, Harold became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lees, South Carolina. He later moved his membership to Macedonia Baptist Church in Blackville, South Carolina. Harold attended Blackville Public School System. He was employed by Ducane for over thirty years as a lead manufacturer. During his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting. In 1995, Harold was united in Holy Matrimony to Retha Mae Davis. Although Harold's physical presence will be no more, his memories will be forever cherished by those who knew and loved him. Preceding him in death one sister, Margaret Ann Gadsden and one brother, Clary Young. Cherishing Harold's memories are his loving wife, Retha Mae Davis Gadsden; his children, Alisha Joyner, Davon "Kizzy" Joyner and Eric Brown; sisters, Brenda G. Blake of Hornell, NY, Edith Gadsden of Rochester, NY, Okeena Gadsden of Hornell, NY, Madelin Barkins of Syracuse, NY, Michelle Ross of Williston, SC; brothers, Harold Ross of Willston, SC, David Gadsden of Hornell, NY; an aunt, Carrie Rhynes of Rochester, NY; ten grandchildren; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins; Godchildren, Courtney Dunbar, Clifton Smith and Tyler Smith; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
