Harry Kenneth Downing, affectionately known as "Little Brother," was born on May 12, 1964, to the late Harry and Cora Downing in Bamberg, South Carolina. He entered eternal rest on January 1, 2026.

Harry was educated in the Bamberg County School District and graduated with the Class of 1982.

He was a faithful member of Eden Baptist Church, where he gave his life to Christ.

Harry was a hardworking and dependable man who spent many years as a truck driver. He took pride in providing for his family and never shied away from hard work. In addition to trucking, he was also involved in the landscaping profession and worked as a cemetery worker within the funeral service industry for more than a decade. If he did a job, you could rest assured knowing that when he was finished, it was done right.

More than anything, Harry was known for his joyful spirit. He loved to laugh, joke, and bring smiles to those around him. His presence could lighten a room, and he had a natural way of making people feel comfortable and welcome. He was caring, kind-hearted, and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of forty-three years, Mary Ella Downing, whom he loved deeply and remained devoted to until her passing.

Those left to cherish the loving memories of Little Brother include one sister, Coretta Downing of Orangeburg, South Carolina; four brothers, Tim (Belinda) Downing and Bobby Downing of Bamberg, South Carolina, Edward (Necole) Downing of Summerville, South Carolina, and Brint (Samantha) Downing of Maryland; three sisters-in-law, Shirley (Willie) Brown of Ehrhardt, South Carolina, Sheila Washington, Pamela (Francis) Johnson; two brothers-in-law, Terry Washington and Anthony Chris Washington, both of Bamberg, South Carolina; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
