On Monday Morning, June 16, 2014, at Spartanburg Medical Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Mrs. Helen Matheney Hagood also known as "Shake/Jelly Belly," entered into eternal rest. She was born on June 3, 1951 in Stuart, Florida, a daughter of the late Linnie Matheney, Sr. and Minnie Lee Gloster Matheney-Newton. She graduated from Blackville-Hilda High School in Blackville, South Carolina. Helen was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Blackville, South Carolina. She was employed at Laurel Baye Healthcare as a Dietary Aide for over 30 years. Helen was preceded in death by her daughter, Bianca Matheny-Robinson; grandson, Keith Tavari Robinson; devoted sister, Mrs. Levonia Donaldson and brother, Johnny Lee Gloster of Blackville, South Carolina. Those left to cherish her beautiful memories are - a devoted husband, Solomon J. Hagood of Spartanburg, SC; her children: Tarsha (Edward) Cain of Lyman, SC, Tavari Hagood and Crystal ( Andre Hightower)Creech all of Columbia, SC; four brothers: Linnie Matheney of Atlanta, GA, Larry (Velina) Gloster and Elmore (Jessie) Matheney of Blackville, SC and Arthur (Joyce) Newton of Greenville, SC; 2 grandchildren: Kaylan Cain and Anthony Creech, Jr.; aunts: Dorothy (Abraham) Heyward, Deloris Ford , Lillie Mae Jamison; one uncle, Willie (Martha) Gloster; special nephew: Anthony Matheney; devoted friend: Robin Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
