Memorial services for the late Mrs. Ida R. Garnes will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Dash's Funeral Home Chapel in Bamberg.

Ida Ruth Sabb was born in Barnwell, South Carolina on February, 14,1950.  She was the third child born to the late Ora Lee Copeland Sabb and the late Walter Sabb, Sr.

Ida was affectionately known as Jeanette, by her family.  She moved to New York City as an infant with her parents.

Jeanette grew up in Harlem. She attended Public School 113 for elementary school, Wadleigh Junior High School and graduated from Charles Evans Hughes High School. Jeanette later moved to Riverdale located in Bronx, New York, where she raised her two sons. Jeanette later earned a bachelor's degree from Touro College.

Jeanette used her degree to work with teens with emotional disabilities at Lincoln Hall in Dutchess County New York.

Jeanette relocated to Charlotte North Carolina, then Lancaster, South Carolina while continuing her work at New Hope Carolina's Treatment Center. She worked there until her retirement in 2016.

Jeanette had a love and flair for high fashion which she demonstrated on a regular basis.

She also had a innate talent for gourmet cooking which she often shared with her family and friends.

Her family and friends considered her to be a classy, humble, easy to talk to and down to earth person, who loved the Lord.

Jeanette was called home after an illness on September 20th, 2018.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo Garnes; her son, Sharod Sabb and a brother, Charles Sabb.

Jeanette is survived by her son, Ian Garnes of Orlando Florida; a sister, Mary Sabb of New York City; brothers, Walter Sabb Jr of Apex North Carolina, Bob Sabb of Fayetteville, Georgia, Bruce Sabb of New York City and Matthew Sabb of Charlotte, North Caroliona; a grandson, Deshawn Sabb; a great granddaughter, Kali Nova Sabb; thirteen nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and a host of friends.
