Mrs. Ida Mae Gray Greene Elmore was born on December 11, 1940 in Bamberg County, South Carolina to the late Floyd and Pretto Gray. She was a member of Capernaum Missionary Baptist Church until her health declined. She was a 1958 graduate of Voorhees High School. Ida was a retired bus driver for Bamberg County School District #2. Throughout the jobs that she held, driving was her favorite. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Chester Greene and Lang Elmore; two daughters, Alberta Johnson and Patricia Sanders; two sisters, Jesse Mae Kennedy and Ora Lee Garrett, and one brother, Dave Daniels. Ida never hesitated to voice her opinion about anything or anyone and although her mortal and physical presence will be no more, she will leave a light that will shine brightly in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her. Ida leaves to cherish her precious memories: three daughters, Theresa Upshur of Jonesboro, GA, Wendy Greene-Limehouse of Rex, GA and Cierra Irons of Bamberg, SC; one brother, Jesse Gray of Bronx, NY; nine grandchildren, James Sanders, Jason Sanders, Felicia Greene, Martell Upshur, Kennetta Limehouse, Kenoshia Limehouse, Caylor Moddy, Carlora Irons and Camyra Hampton; 10 great grandchildren; one aunt, Jeanie Gray of Augusta, GA; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Tuesday between the hours of 12:00 noon. and 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Cierra Irons, 598 Capernaum Road, Bamberg, SC and the funeral home. Sacred arrangements are entrusted to Dash's Funeral Home of Bamberg.
