MRS. IRBELL JACKSON was born on August
23, 1931 to the late Clinton Williams and
Albertha Faust Williams. She was the fifth of
seven children born in Bamberg County. Irbell
was raised in Denmark in the Capernaum area
where she attended school and began her religious faith at Capernaum Baptist Church until
she moved to the countryside of Blackville. In Blackville she attended
Pilgrim Rest Church School.
At an early age Irbell moved to Augusta, Georgia and married Hendy
Jackson. Although she bore no children of her own, she helped her
sister raise her children. She was a devoted caregiver to other children
and adults in the family as well as friends of the family. She enjoyed
fishing, cooking and singing. She shared her love of cooking with family and friends of the community. If she knew you, you were welcomed
at her table. She was a member of Crawford Baptist Church Choir of
Augusta, Georgia.
Irbell was preceded in death by her husband; parents; five brothers,
Angus Williams, Ernest Williams, Julius Williams, David Williams and
Joe Williams; one sister, Wilemenia Williams and one nephew, Willie
Bubba Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her sister, Jessie Mae Williams;
four nieces/daughters, Rose (Solomon) Daniels, Bertha (Douglas) Ray,
Ida (Joseph) Carter, Sarah Holiday; two nephews/sons, Julius Williams
and Robert Williams; three grandchildren, Solomon Jr. (LaKesha),
Nicholas (Johkira) and Tori; nine great-grandchildren, Justin (Angel),
Austin, Bradford, Jeremiah, Jeremy, Nehemiah, David, Isaiah and
Wesley; three great-great-grandchildren, Ma'Layah, Journie and Ryan,
and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
