Robinson, affectionately known by his family and friends as "Slick" departed this life on Friday, May 25, 2012 at his residence with his sisters Bernice and Rev. Jeanett by his side. James was the youngest of nine children born to the late Barzilla and Lillie Bell Robinson on January 3, 1953 n Springfield, South Carolina. James accepted Christ at an early age under leadership of Reverend Monroe Bush, Sr. at Samaria Baptist Church. He was educated in Orangeburg County Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Hunter- Kinard High School Class of 1973. He furthered his education at Denmark Technical College as he studied in the field of electricity. He was employed at Ducane Heating and Air for forty plus years. James was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Robinson and a sister, Patricia Robinson. Cherishing his loving memories are four children, Anthony (Danielle) Robinson of Columbia, SC, Niakia "Angel" as James called her (Rev. Reginald) Corley of Wagner, SC, Shanita (Christopher) Smith of Aiken, SC and James (Kim) Robinson, Jr. of Pelion, SC; fifteen grandchildren; two brothers, Willie B. (Barbara) Robinson, and Arthur L. Robinson both of Springfield, SC; five sisters, Cornell Howard of Springfield, SC, Mary Lee Lathan of Washington, DC, Bernice Jenkins, Rev. Jeanett Bowen and Barbara Jean Daughtery all of Springfield, SC; three aunts, Minnie Ruth Robinson of Springfield, SC, Pensacola Reed of Augusta, GA and Isabelle Robinson of Columbia, SC; one uncle, Junior Leysath of Columbia, SC; one brother-in-law, Sammie Jenkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and many friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Friday between the hours of 5:00- 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
