Funeral services for the late Ms. Janice Minus Hicks will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church in Blackville, South Carolina. Interment services will follow immediately at Hope Memorial Park Cemetery in Barnwell, South Carolina. Public viewing will be held on Monday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Ms. Janice Minus Hicks, began the start of a legacy in Blackville, South Carolina on May 23, 1918 and ended her legacy on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Memorial Health University Center in Savannah, Georgia. Ms. Hicks was the daughter of the late Steab and Lula Minus. She embarked upon her educational quest in the Blackville Public School System and thoroughly enjoyed working as a dietician. Ms. Hicks joined Macedonia Baptist Church at an early age, where she sang on the Sanctuary Choir. She was very active in the community and had a passion for helping others. In 2012, she was presented a trophy for residing in Beaver Dam Apartments the longest. Ms. Hicks is preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Cherishing her fond and precious memories are her nieces, Vernice (George) Morrall of Savannah, Georgia and Deloris Warren of Hodges, South Carolina; one nephew, James Caldwell of Hodges, South Carolina; grand and great-grand nieces and nephews; dear friends, Annie L. Washington of Blackville, South Carolina and Alice Minus of Blackville, South Carolina; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
