Ms. Janie L. Banks, daughter of the late James and Girthel Banks, was born March 27, 1953 in Bamberg, South Carolina.  She entered into eternal rest on September 6, 2020.

Janie joined Thankful Baptist Church at an early age. She served there on the Usher Board, YMCA, Young Adult Choir and the Gospel Choir.

Janie was employed by Ambler Industries, Maxway, Freds, and later joined the staff of Roses Discount Store in Orangeburg, SC.

Janie was preceded in death by her mother, Girthel G. Banks, her father, James Banks, Jr. and a brother, Clary Banks, Jr.

She leaves to cherish fond memories:  one devoted son, James Tyrone Banks; one grandson, Tyreke Banks; two brothers, Arthur L. Banks of Bamberg, SC and James Bryan (Linda) Banks of Orangeburg, SC; six sisters, Gerlie (David) Walker, Ada M. Legree and Betty A. Bamberg, all of Bamberg, SC, Patricia (Herbert) Myers, Shirley Banks and Sandra McMichael all of Orangeburg, SC; a beloved niece, Shannon Banks who provided care during her untimely passing; 15 nieces and nephews as well as a host of grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
