Funeral services for the late Mrs. Jennie V. Kennerly Phine will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 11:00 am at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Orangeburg, South Carolina. Interment services will follow immediately at Belleville Memory Gardens, Orangeburg, South Carolina. Rev. Gregory A. Young, will officiate.

Mrs. Jennie V. Kennerly Phine , the daughter of the late Claflin and Maggie Kennerly was born September 19, 1942 and entered eternal rest on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

At an early age in life she joined Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where she sang with the youth choir, ushered, attended Baptist Training Union (BTU) and Sunday School. She was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg and graduated from Wilkinson High School. Later in life, she relocated to Brooklyn, New York where most of her adult life was spent. During her 43 years in New York she joined the Mt. Lebannon Baptist Church and was an active member there for over 25 years. Her affiliations there included the Missionary Society, Receptionist Guild, a coordinator of the youth choir, Culinary Committee, the Relief and Disaster Committee and attended Sunday School. She gladly worked in other capacities whenever necessary.

Jennie, as she was affectionally called, was employed in the Epidemiology Department with the American Cancer Society for 24 years until retirement. She worked in several positions there: coding clerk, data entry operator, information systems consultant, and data entry supervisor. She also worked for the Native Textile Company as a data entry supervisor and for the Brooklyn New York Public Library.

Jennie relocated back to Orangeburg and again became an active member of Mt. Pisgah where she was a member Ward One, the Senior Missionary Ministry, Women's Guild, Floral Ministry, Anniversary Committee, Decoration Committee, and always willing to assist wherever needed. Her community affiliations included NAACP, Brookdale Civic Association, and Democratic National Committee. She volunteered at the Council on Aging and at the District Five Schools. She was a great supporter of UNCF, Southern Poverty Law Center, March of Dimes, and Red Cross. She also enjoyed visiting her elderly neighbors.

Jennie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Matthew Phine and they were blessed with two beautiful children, Daryl and Argie.

Jennie was a dedicated South Carolina State Bulldog fan. She was always there to cheer them on and her pastime was traveling. She traveled extensively to 49 of the 50 states during her summer cross country vacation trips traveling to the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Barbados, Puerto Rico, Aruba, Mexico, Canada, Singapore, Japan and Hawaii.

Those cherishing fond memories include her son, Daryl Phine of Orangeburg, SC and Argie Phine (Glynis) Martin of Tokyo, Japan; three grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Delrachel Phine, Bria Martin and Devin Martin; two loving brothers, Claflin Kennerly of Orangeburg and Thomas L. "Jackie" (Martha) Kennerly of Lexington, SC; a sister, Lillie Mae Hampton of Brooklyn, NY and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and friends that she loved dearly.
