Mr. John T. Gilmore, son of the late Sam and Francis Gilmore was born on June 2, 1954 in Orangeburg, South Carolina.  He departed this life on July 31, 2020 at the Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, South Carolina.

After completing high school, John pursued many careers. He was a truck driver, auto mechanic, worked at a funeral home and also worked at the Apollo Theater in New York City, where he met and married Sharon Thorton.  John and his son, "John Jr", had the pleasure of working together at A-1 Palmetto Trucking Company in Orangeburg, South Carolina. John also served his country faithfully and patriotically by enlisting in the military.

John was a very funny guy and always had jokes.  His memories will forever remain in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him.

Cherishing John's memories are his sons, John Gilmore, Jr and Dominique Moorer; a daughter, Yolonda Moorer; grandchildren; Zyanne Gilmore, Ziomara Gilmore, Zaniyah Gilmore, Makayla Williams, Teliyah Williams, Sidney Moore, Timothy Lane and Taylor Greer.
