Mr. John Martin Ryant, Jr, son of the late Martin Ryant Sr. and Eula Mae McDonald Ryant, was born in Orangeburg, SC on January 12, 1946. At an early age, John joined Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cope, SC. He later became a member of Gospel Temple Church of Deliverance. He received his education at G.W. Carver High School in Cope, SC . John retired after 28 years of service from Lanier Construction Company in Gadson, SC. John is preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Cherishing John's fond memories are his loving wife, Bertha Mae Ryant of the home; one son, Mark Ryant; eight daughters, Cornelia (Freddie) Sanders, Lenora (Ray) Franklin, Shirley (Craig) Conner, Phyllis (Mark) Brooks, Joyce (Sammie) Fogle, Denise (George) Pough, Marilyn (Eric) Polite, and Laticia (Willie) Polite; two sisters, Lillie M. Ryant and Eva Mae (Earnest) Hampton; two brothers, James Albert (Rachel) Ryant and Vernon (Claudette) Cleckley, Jr; seventeen grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; one aunt, Lillian Garrick; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence of his daughter, Laticia Polite, 2108 Old Edisto Drive, Orangeburg, SC and at the funeral home.
