Mr. Summers was the son of the late Frances Jones Bonaparte and John W. Summers, Sr and  was born in Bamberg, South Carolina. He was educated in the public schools of Bamberg County.  Upon graduation, John matriculated at Midlands Technical College where his concentration was in automotive mechanics.  John faithfully served this country in the United States Army completing two consecutive missions in Vietnam.  He was also a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church of Bamberg.

Viewing for the public will be held on Friday from 12:00 noon - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
