Funeral services for the late Mr. Joshua "Hollywood" Hiers will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm at Greater Sweet Branch Baptist Church, Govan, South Carolina.  Interment services will follow immediately at the church cemetery.  Viewing for the public will be held on Saturday from 12:00 noon- 8:00 pm at the funeral home.



Mr. Joshua "Hollywood" Hiers, Jr., age 73, departed this life on November 29, 2017 at his home. He was born on November 27, 1944 in Olar, SC to the late Mr. Joshua Hiers, Sr. and Mrs. Ollie Mae Hiers-Seymore. He was also nurtured in the home by his late stepfather Don Patrick Seymore. At an early age he joined the Sweet Branch Baptist Church in Govan, South Carolina where he served as a choir member. He also attended Bethlehem Baptist Church in Olar, South Carolina.

He was educated in the public schools of Olar, South Carolina. After his school years he relocated to Brooklyn, NY and was employed at Merit Enterprises, INC. He returned to South Carolina and worked at various companies including: Holland Hitch, Creek Plantation where he enjoyed working with horses, and South-Eastern Fiber Glass where he was an equipment operator. He was very creative and enjoyed drawing, and creating artistic wood work. He had very impressive organizational skills, and an eye for creative designs.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories with his daughters Belinda Hiers Williams, (Brandon) of Clover SC, Brenda Hiers Massey, (Carl) of Rock Hill SC, Ms. Pamela Jackson of Brooklyn NY, and son, Mr. Stacy Jackson of Brooklyn NY, the mother of his twin daughters, Virginia M. Hiers of Bamberg, SC; s ix grandchildren, Immanuel Jackson, Isaiah Lewis, Katelyn Massey, Lydia Jackson and Kevin and Jerome Coley; cousin/sister, Francena Odom of Brooklyn, NY; three aunts of Brooklyn, NY, Marie Furse, Carrie Furse Johnson, and Flossie Furse; an uncle of Denmark, SC ,Johnny Lee Johnson; special cousins ,Razzie Dell Odom, Sr. of Bamberg, SC, Ruthie F Brown, Minnie Odom, Elaine Soko, Eunice Hiers Stamboldjiev and Ella Mae Hiers Breland; a special friend of the family, Gladys Holmes and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
